Introducing our regular 'Armchair referencing' blog

This is the first of a series of fortnightly bite-size ‘Armchair land referencing’ articles intended to inform, educate and possibly entertain readers of SoLR newsletters. These are shared by veteran land referencer and SoLR member, Ashley Parry Jones. Each will be provided as a question and ask how we, as land referencers, might answer it and why the answer is of significance to our work.

This blog will be shared with our members and all editions can be found in your SoLR membership area, under 'Blogs for Members'.

Here’s the first - an easy one to start off with. What do the brass studs in this pavement denote? How else might this be indicated?
